Violence Against Women & Children - What is DV?
This is a key strategic priority area and is overseen by the Violence Against Women and Children Strategic Group. The area of work is based around five building blocks of work that are now in place:
- Domestic Violence Needs Assessment
- Violence Against Women Strategy
- Domestic Homicide Reviews’ recommendations
Violence against women blights the lives of many of our most vulnerable citizens, often denying the most fundamental of human rights: life, liberty, bodily integrity, freedom of movement and dignity of the person. The purpose of the Violence Against Women and Children Strategic Group is to reduce these forms of violence and abuse and to make Birmingham safer for vulnerable people and their children, through a co-ordinated and comprehensive programme within the strategic and operational arrangements of the city.
